CPN announces major investment in the East, CentralPlaza Rayong, its 26th shopping mall with investment value of over THB 3.2 billion

Bangkok, 30 July 2013 - Central Pattana Plc. (CPN) announced its major investment in Eastern Thailand, CentralPlaza Rayong, with investment value of over 3.2 billion baht. The 26th shopping mall of CPN will become the biggest and most modern shopping mall of the province. It is expected to support anticipated high purchasing power in Rayong, which has a vibrant economy and is Thailand's biggest industrial hub.

Ms. Wallaya Chirathivat, Senior Executive Vice President for Business Development and Project Construction for CPN said, "CPN is focusing on aggressive business expansion in a bid to build continuous growth. We are exploring the best areas of Thailand before other people do, and every location chosen by us has high potential to achieve bounding growth. For Eastern Thailand, we see the potential of Rayong because the province has a vibrant economy and is Thailand's biggest industrial center, where 19 industrial estates (including the Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate and Maptaphut Industrial Estate) are located. The estates promote industrial development and the development of transportation and logistics systems. The province is also a center of the petrochemical industry and is considered the Detroit of Asia. It is a production base for many of the world's leading automakers and a center of Thailand's agricultural industry. We believe Rayong will become Eastern Thailand's gateway to Cambodia and Vietnam. Growth in the province will be promoted by the government's megaprojects, including the Bangkok-Chonburi-Rayong high-speed train, the Chonburi-Pattaya-Maptaphut motorway, the Asian Highway R10 route, and the Southern coastal corridor that connects Thailand (Bangkok-Trad), Cambodia, and Vietnam. We believe the commencement of the AEC will attract more investment from foreign investors and the private sector, resulting in bounding growth."

When comparing its economic scale with the population size, Rayong is ranked top. The province has the highest per capita income of 1.25 million baht per year, and Gross Provincial Product (GPP) of 750 billion baht, making the province ranked top in Eastern Thailand and second only to Bangkok. The number of real estate projects, particularly condominium projects, is rapidly increasing and the growth is expected to continue.

Ms. Wallaya added that, "CPN is developing the CentralPlaza Rayong project to make the province expand even more. It is CPN's latest shopping mall in Eastern Thailand and the 26th shopping mall of CPN. With investment value of over 3.2 billion baht, CentralPlaza Rayong will become the biggest and most modern shopping mall in the province. The first phase, located on an area of 60 rai with space of 130,000 square meters, is situated on Bangna-Trad 36 Road, on the motorway to Ban Pe District, near the Koh Kloy Intersection."

CPN expects CentralPlaza Rayong to become a landmark of the province. The design of the shopping mall, inspired by local characteristics, is under three concepts: the Miracle Island, fruit, and poetry. The design of the building is under the theme of an attractive, mysterious island. The surrounding landscape, inspired by sand and sea waves, comes in a modern architectural style. The interior design focuses on shiny crystals in a modern style. The façade is inspired by threads of a woven fruit basket, which represent the reputation of Rayong as a source of fruit. There will also be fruit sculptures at spots for rest and photography. Poetry and graphics of the characters from the novel Phra Aphai Manee will be seen throughout the shopping mall.

CentralPlaza Rayong is a combination of shopping mall, lifestyle complex, and entertainment complex, including Robinson Department Store, PowerBuy, SuperSports, Tops Market, B2S, and OfficeMate. It will feature more than 200 leading Thai and international shops and new dining destinations that respond to every lifestyle. It will house seven state-of-the-art theaters and the Fun Planet for children and families.

CentralPlaza Rayong is targeted at people with high purchasing power from Rayong and neighboring provinces. Currently, there are about 820,000 people in Rayong, and more than 3 million people in 4 provinces within a 120-kilometer radius. The main customers would be in the B+ category and higher, including executives and people who work in industrial estates as well as foreigners who work or live in Rayong. The shopping mall is expected to be opened in December 2014.
