Bangkok: Central Pattana plc (CPN) has announced it is continuing its development of ‘CentralPlaza Nakhonratchasima’, its 31st shopping center. CPN plans to anchor four prime locations for the four large provinces of Northeastern Thailand (a.k.a. Isan): Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen and the latest, Korat (Nakhon Ratchasima), guaranteed to become a grand project, with a total investment of over 10 billion baht on 65 rai of land, and a project space of 355,000 m2 on Mitrapap Road. This is a high potential location that can support the growth of the province in becoming the ‘Mahanakhon of Isan’. The Mahanakhon of Isan: The Largest Mixed-Use Project in Isan includes a shopping center, hotel, convention hall, condominium, outdoor lifestyle market and park in one place, creating a lifestyle model for modern living for the people of Isan in all dimensions. The ‘Korat River Walk’ is a waterfront green area filled with colorful flowering plants that bloom alternately in different seasons all year round, created as a present for the people of Korat.
Ms. Wallaya Chirathivat, Senior Executive Vice President of CPN said: “CPN has set its goal to continue with business expansion following the company’s plans. We are continuing to invest in high potential locations, covering all the regions of the country, aiming to help to push forward the country’s economy. We will also create investment and cash flow as well as enhancing Thailand as the best hub for trade and tourism in the Southeast Asian region. We will provide ‘Market Market’ spaces for local entrepreneurs in order to support Thai SMEs, following the ‘Pracharat’ policy.
Located in the Northeast of Thailand (Isan), Nakhon Ratchasima province is considered one of the country’s most important hubs to power the economy, trade, tourism and investment, and is a gateway for Isan, with connecting routes to 20 provinces in the region and neighboring countries. There are several mega projects being developed in the province, which will make this province a center of transportation and freight, including the Bangkok-Nakhon Ratchasima High Speed Train; Mab Kabao Saraburi-Jira Junction Nakhon Ratchasima Double Track Railway; Bang Pa-in to Pak Chong Nakhon Ratchasima motorway and a ring road around Nakhon Ratchasima. These projects are expected to be completed by 2020-2025. The investment in CentralPlaza Nakhonratchasima is a major piece of the business jigsaw and will help people become more aware of the potential of Nakhon Ratchasima province.
CentralPlaza Nakhonratchasima is located on Mitrapap Road, supporting the city’s expansion by being situated in a location with great potential for high-end residences, near the statue of Thao Suranari (Grandma Mo), Nakhon Ratchasima Bus Terminal 2 and several educational institutes. Mitrapap Road is also a transportation center for Isan, connecting the center of Korat to nearby provinces, and offering convenient transport. The shopping center can be accessed by various routes, and will have convenient parking space, with capacity for 3,500 cars and over 1,500 motorcycles.
The architecture of the shopping center will be designed with a seamless combination of the Isan identity and modernity, creating a new landmark for Korat by adding an outstanding façade inspired by the shape of Zalete flower petals, known as Mahahong Flower (White Ginger), the queen of flowers of Isan. The interior is decorated under the theme of the ‘Seasons of Life’ by adding the colors of five seasons to the Northeastern region and enhanced with interactive features that offer a unique experience – the first and only in Isan.”
Ms. Wallaya added that besides helping to boost business growth and promote the potential of the province, this large investment project in Korat will also create the ‘Korat River Walk’ park – a new lifestyle destination: a relaxing center and a hub for all types of activities to meet the lifestyles of the new generation of urban people. The site will include a green area with a waterfront environment, a running track, bike lane, water playground, pet zone, lifestyle market and outdoor activity zone on a space of 5,000 m2, equivalent to CentralWorld Square. All of this will be provided as a present for everyone in Korat.
The shopping center will be decorated by local flowering plants from a botanical garden, with the area divided into five zones of five seasons under the theme of the ‘Seasons of Life’. Each zone will support different lifestyles, offering a variety of choices for everyone in the family. There will be the Spring Zone – an exercise space for running or cycling and a water playground for children; Summer Zone – which includes ‘Market Market’, indoor and outdoor lifestyle markets and space provided to help support small-sized local entrepreneurs, Bike Café (a café and bike equipment shop), plant shop, pet zone and the outdoor activity space; Rain Forest Zone – where you can enjoy a holiday market in a cool, shady atmosphere; Autumn Zone – an area for hanging-out in the many bars and bistro style restaurants and enjoy the bustling nightlife atmosphere; and Winter Zone – Transportation center: a hub for buses and a large stopping off point for shuttle transport provided for the convenience of visitors.
The interior decor will show a beautiful and unique design based on the concept of the ‘Seasons of Life’ in different seasonal themes and add to the excitement with interactive features, creating a unique atmosphere and experience that you will not find elsewhere.
“We may say that CentralPlaza Nakhonratchasima is the ‘Mahanakhon of Isan’ as it is the most extensive lifestyle hub of Nakhon Ratchasima, meeting all the demands and lifestyles of the Korat people. The biggest synergy in the Northeast of Thailand by Central Group allowing people to experience for the first time Central Department Store, Tops Superstore, B2S store, and in the concept of co-working space (the one and only in the province) called ‘ThinkSpace’, Supersports with sports simulators and an indoor sports area as well as Power Buy, Office Mate and over 500 leading fashion stores and restaurants, a 20,000 m2 food destination, the largest and most extensive lifestyle space in Isan – ideal for hanging out, eating, drinking or chilling out. Family restaurants, cafés, bakeries and take-home food are all covered, equivalent to CentralPlaza Ladprao.
In addition, CentralPlaza Nakhonratchasima will also offer the largest entertainment center in Northeastern Thailand, powered by SFX Cinema, with nine world standard cinema screens, Mx4D system cinema and special cinemas creating a new dimension in cinema-going for everyone in the family. Fun Planet, the largest indoor fun park in Thailand created under the theme of popular Japanese cartoons, with a total investment of over 100 million baht will be waiting for you at CentralPlaza Nakhonratchasima.
There are also activity spaces and a convention hall covering over 7,000 m2 (at the standard of MICE Awards 2016) to support provincial or national events, and even for large regional events,” Ms Wallaya concluded.
CentralPlaza Nakhonratchasima, ‘Mahanakhon of Isan’, is being prepared to accommodate purchasing power from both within the province and nearby provinces as well as Thai and foreign tourists. The grand opening will take place in the third quarter of 2017.
